Block 1 in my Whovian Adventure TARDIS

This, my friends, is an open letter of apology to all my UFOs languishing the past couple days as I made this:

I mean, it's a TARDIS...how could I not make it....

You can find this and in the ensuing weeks 19 other paper-pieced Doctor Who patterns provided by Soma and Caroline. 

Caroline touted this as a beginner pattern...I have a love-hate relationship with paper piecing (love the way the patterns look completed by others, hate and struggle to do it myself) but I must say I got it together.  It's far from perfect but it is recognizable, I think...fantastic!
I snuck some of my favorite fabrics into this quilt block, much to my son's dismay..."hey, you ruined it with sewing definitions!!"....I told him to read the text..."border...a something...geographic boundary"..."Oh, Ok...that's alright, I guess..." 

And here I thought I was being clever, always a critic, lol!

It's For The Birds Blog Hop

Now, I think I had to participate in this one as my son's bed quilt made it in as a poster child for the hop...




 

You can find the post I did for the Wicked Hop here and it has more pics of this quilt...I was trying to make it spooky with 13 ravens and all the Nevermore and The Birds vibe...believe it or not, my son still thought it was fine to use on his bed...no fear, that guy!

 Can't wait to see Madam Samm's version as she's been teasing me with hints for months!


So, this guy/gal above ended up in our woodstove as he was looking for nesting sites recently...good thing the hubby has bird wrangling skills...thought the pic might be appropriate for the hop...

 Thanks to Madam Samm and Mary for hosting/cheering our big group of bird watchers through this hop!

 Today I chose to go in a completely different direction and I used a drawing of Charley Harper's for inspiration...and added a bit of Krislovesfabric styling to come up with this wallhanging.



I love the way it turned out and have hung it in my sewing room to enjoy...

This guy is my fave so I put him at the top of the pile...


This guy is a "bluebird of happiness"...



 And, this guy...who doesn't like a good yellow bird, lol!!

I used colonial knots for the eyeballs and have decided I may enjoy making that knot more than the french knots I have made in the past.

Modern Stash Bee - My Quilt Top is done!

Thanks to the ladies of the Modern Stash bee, here is my completed top:
My bee-mates made 9 of these and I filled in with the other 16...


 Here is a bit of a close-up of a portion...
Planned scrappy...an ex-engineer's dream come true :) Now on to quilting it!

In From the Cold Mug Along Block 2

 This is my version of Block number 2...utilizing all my Kate Spain Christmas fabric line scraps from the 3 other projects I have made using these fabrics.  This block has "pieced" steam rather than the embroidered steam in block 1...

Workshop Finish

Don't know if this will happen ever again, but I finished a bag during the workshop this afternoon...
The pattern we were using was the Midi bag...and my friend Linda taught the class.
Linda is the.most.awesome.teacher.ever!  :)









I wish I had bolts of this Mama Said Sew line from Moda's Sweetwater...love all the prints and the bag will be perfect for hauling around sew-to-go projects.
Yay!  For finishes!  I believe everyone went home with a finished bag today!

Workshop Preparation


I am participating in a workshop to make the Midi bag...and my friend Linda gave me this homework, because I talk and visit a bit much to get anything done in a few hours, lol!!
I still love, love, love this fabric line from Sweetwater Mama said Sew and I think it will be fun to have a bag made from it, yay!

Now I need to bake some cookies, because all that hard work will require sustenance...
