A Little More Paper Piecing and Spring Flowers

This is another of the blocks from the Sew Out Loud QAL that I couldn't resist trying.  This one is designed by Cherise..some of the pieces are so tiny!  I have decided that freezer paper template piecing is do-able but still quite challenging for me.  Anyway, it's far from perfect but I am happy with it :)

Below are some of our early spring daffodils

And, is anyone else willing to admit to having a few of these?
He was quite proud of himself working his way through the brick next the to hose reel!

Happy Spring!

Paper Piecing is my friend...

Not much sewing this week with all the great unseasonably warm March weather.  But, I really love verykerryberry's pattern for a sewing basket/ box on the Sew Out Loud QAL so I took out my seam ripper and together we journeyed through the construction (and a little de-construction) to arrive at the final product above.  It's a bit wonky but I think I love it anyway :).

Swap and Bee mailing today

So I joined my first swap and we were to cut out 56 5 in charm squares from each of  two 1 yard cuts of our designated color.  I received orange as my color, yay!  I was able to find 2 good choices at the LQS.  The one on the left is Born to Be Wild by Hoffman and the one on the right is Power Pop by Janean Morrison for Free Spirit.  This Swap is organized by SewSaneJane.

So I sent them off today and magically will receive a rainbow back :) How fun!

Below is the 25 patch and 16 patch requested by Alisa for the March See.Bee.Create Bee.  Good thing she provided the fabric as I could have never found that many blues in my stash!

Working on BOMs and a March Madness Project

This is the second Harrington and Hannah block, I think the third comes out this week so I'm just in time on this one...
And this is my project for college basketball watching...it is a Moda Bakeshop pattern that I did with friends during a Jelly Roll workshop this summer...most everyone else did the Jelly Roll Race or Jelly Roll 1800 quilt but I had to be different and wanted to do this one.  I am hand quilting it with No. 8 Perle cotton and am liking the look so far...I hope this will be my finish for March.

March Sunshine

So this is the March block for the Hello Sun BOM and it is the first one that I have been able to see sunshine outside as I made it.  You can find the links here for the patterns if you'd like to join us, this is the 3rd month and it goes through December so plenty of time to catch up!  The blocks are small (6 1/2") and I am thinking baby quilt or wall hanging.

Craftsy BOM for March done!

So this is block #5 of the Craftsy free BOM called String Block...
and this is block #6 called Broken Spider Web.

I would encourage any of you not in this yet to take a look...the patterns and video how-tos are free and Amy Gibson does a good job of explaining the techniques so it would be easy for a relative newbie to get involved.  Since we just finished block #6, I think that means we're half-way through.  I was going to take a picture of all 6 done so far together but it's too windy so will have to save that for another day!

Merry Merry Snowmen Block One

This is the first block for the pattern Merry Merry Snowmen by Bunny Hill Designs.  It is a BOM offered from several places but I just purchased the pattern and chose to use a fat quarter stack of Moda French General Rouenneries Deux and some other yardage from past French General lines.  I am using an off-white natural colored wool for the snowmen.  I haven't decided if I am going to give him the Merry Merry Cupcake sign yet, I kind of like him without it!
