One Monthly Goal - January Finish Let it Snow

My goal for this month was to finish my Let it Snow top and get it hung and I am happy to report that I achieved my goal, yay!
Here it is just about to go under the quilting needle :)

Here it is bound and quilted.
And here it is on display on my patio minus any real snow as this quilted wall hanging has done a really good job of chasing away any real snowflakes.

You can find the pattern here: Buttermilk Basin's mystery QAL I used my stash of wool and Japanese woven fabrics.

So glad to have it finished and hanging in our front entryway!

Sunflower Restart

This is a photo from my post on my Primitive Gatherings Summer Block of the Week 2014 (Sunflower Gatherings) progress from June of 2014:

It will be a beautiful quilt and I just adore sunflowers but I am still at that same point (ready to start block 4) in January of 2017...ooops!!  I dropped the ball on this one.  My friend Cheryl finished hers and it is a beauty...I need to get to work on mine!!

Lucky for me, Anna Bates from Woolie Mammoth has invited readers along for the ride as she tackles hers in a bit of a quilt along so I am going to see if that little extra nudge does the trick and gets me started again :)  Thanks Anna!

OMG - January

This is my first time linking to Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal  My friend Patty has been doing a great job hosting and I felt January would be a good time for me to try and join in.

My project is one that I completed the blocks for last year.  And, I was happily making Buttermilk Basin's mystery QAL with Japanese fabrics and wool all year but it started to get scary to say it ("Let It Snow") out loud once we had our first snowfall of this season and it has been waiting since November for a finish.  I originally planned to make this a bigger top but scaled back once I decided what wall it would hang on.  It will alternate with a daisy quilted wall hanging in my front entry area.

Here is what it looks like now as a completed top:
I hope to get it sandwiched, quilted and bound (and hung) this month as my goal.

Shenandoah Valley Botanical Quilt - January 2017

Happy New Year!!  This is a project I am hoping to finish this year, my top is sewn but I am spacing out my block reveal to follow along with the sew-along.   I am hoping to get my top sandwiched and quilted this winter. I am sewing along with the Shenandoah Valley Botanical Quilt project - the pattern is provided by the Virginia Quilt Museum and all pattern sales benefit the museum. Dawn, from Collector with a Needle, and Doreen, from Aunt Reen’s Place, are hosting a quiltalong for this quilt, here.

The pattern size as provided by the museum easily makes 9 inch blocks. I am doing mine in wool so that I can make that size (8 1/2" finished), many are enlarging the pattern and all the participant's resulting blocks are well worth a look...so pretty!

This is my version of the blocks chosen for January, Red and Pink Wreaths:

I love both of these blocks with all their details.

I am currently working through my WIP goals for this year (along with cleaning my very messy sewing room!!)  and this quilt is at the top of the list for 2017!!
