Tula Pink's 100 Modern Blocks my block #2 and #3

Here are blocks 1-3 together.  They are 6 1/2" blocks and come from Tula Pink's book City Sampler 100 Modern Blocks.  I am using my Tula Pink stash with a few solids mixed in.  You can find more info on my first post here.  They are small blocks and don't require much material but I highly suggest pressing the seams open to allow the blocks to lay flat.

Say it With Flowers Blog Hop & Giveaway

Sometimes a project just comes together and this was one of those...

I bought an extra wall hanging pattern from Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts two years ago along with some of her batik fabric when I took a workshop with her which produced this quilt...one of my favorites which actually still lives at my house.
 

I "sat" on the pattern awhile, not sure if I could do it justice :)  Then, recently, two generous friends gifted me some Aurifil which "happened" to match perfectly and I knew it was time to make this wall-hanging...(it's called Over The Fence and can be found at the Laundry Basket Quilts link above)

 I love the way the top-stitching with the Aurifil blends with the batiks...but holds it's own in making the quilt sparkle...

 Sweet little buds as well as full beautiful blooms are all over this little garden fence.

 Here are those gorgeous Aurifil threads provided by sweet generous friends which made my project go from the "someday pile" to the Completed Pile, YAY!!

As for a giveaway, I thought I would send this gently used pattern and a new garden embroidery book  to a reader who would like them, be sure to let me know you would in the comments.  I will draw after the hop...

And So It Begins Again...Tula Pink's 100 Modern Blocks, my block 1

Tula Pink is such a fun designer and I have been collecting bits and pieces from her various lines which led me to this project.   These blocks are 6 1/2" and are BEGGING for fussy cuts...

 This is the book with all the patterns...

And this is my Tula Pink stash I am working with, minus my Salt Water half yard cuts which I haven't been able to bear to cut into yet and am not sure if I ever will, love those Octopi...I want the perfect quilt pattern for that line and don't have any scraps yet.
There are lots of great eye-candy and inspiration on Flickr both here and here with two different QALs both working with this book.

May Hello Moon and Beejeebers blocks done

It seems awhile since I posted one of these, but here is my Hello Moon block done for May...the patterns are free and can be found on April's blog here...

and in my Bee, Beejeebers, it was Melissa's turn and she selected this block.   You can find the tutorial here

This is a 20" block with lots of low-volume prints and a pop of color...there is a secondary pattern created with these when you put them together.  Her tutorial actually has several size choices.

A Swoon Finish at last

You may remember that I posted about a Swoon project that I was working on in these posts here and here..

I am not emotionally ready to work on the larger black and gold batik one yet as the intended recipient passed away in December.  I will finish it, and I have already decided who should have it, but I am just not ready quite yet..it is at the quilting stage and will hopefully get completed yet this summer.

But I did finally manage a finish of the test block I had started with and it made a nice little throw I am going to give one of my young nieces for her birthday.

 It is 38" x 40" and uses an older Robyn Pandolph line called "Sentimental Journey"...yes, the name fits...I'm pretty sure my niece doesn't read this blog and will just enjoy this quilt for it's rosy pink goodness.  She doesn't need to know the heavy heart I had completing it...

Straight line quilting really does the Swoon design justice, I think...

Fresh Rhubarb and a new book

I am working hard on a future blog hop wall hanging which I can't show, so I show you what else I did today...

These are Strawberry Rhubarb Jam made from a recipe in a new-to-me book I recently purchased from Amazon here.  The author also has a blog with lots of free recipes here.

My preliminary taste on a bagel says "Yum"!  I also made a pie so I think I am done picking rhubarb until the end of the week!
