And Then There Was Belle...and a bit of Honey

So I am making pretty good progress on my 1930s FW blocks...and then along came Belle.
But here she is block number 13 Belle - finished!!  I persevered and made her twice.  The first try was with a paper piece technique but I just wasn't happy with the joins in the y seam.  I suspect it was my printer as I can't get it to print the blocks exactly to scale.  My old printer had a menu that allowed me to select "print at 100%" which always worked but my "new" year old printer tends to print slightly under scale as you are only given a menu to select paper size...anyway, I usually compensate by adding extra around the borders but this one gave me fits...
So I used the templates :)  Good to have choices.
And, here is my block number 3 from the Buttermilk Basin free BOM found here.
This is our personal honey label...bet you can guess why my husband named it that...he is our resident beekeeper as I am allergic to stings.

Love your FW block! Need to make mine but I'm a bit scared by this y-seams. And since my book still hasn't arrived yet I need to make the pattern myself and making a paper-pieced pattern and then add y-seams to the mix ... possible a disaster. Perhaps I'll make it tomorrow it's almost midnight here and I already made block #72 Mrs Smith (I could figure that one out thanks to amazon ... it's a easy block ... no y-seams or paper-piecing necessary;-)

The FW block turned out cute. They are constantly changing the program and even my "old" printer I have to tweak with my patterns to paper piece sometimes. Love the honey label. Is that a self portrait of the hubby?

Belle turned out beautiful! I too succumbed to templates for this one.
Your Honey block is really adorable.
LOVE the name & label that your hubby chose for your home farmed honey!

Belle is beautiful, but now you've got me running scared. My book will come today and my "Y" seam fear may prevent me from being as diligent as you in making these blocks. Yikes! I love the name of the honey! Do you sell it in your area or is it just for your use?

Another very pretty block. That's bummer about your printer. It is definitely nice to have options. I am not very fond of bees because I am allergic to stings too, but I love your bee block. The label made me laugh :)
