September Already?

Time is moving faster than I am these days!

Been awhile since I posted, but not much I can share as much has been secret sewing.

Prayers are being lifted here for all affected by hurricane Harvey and we are watching Irma close as we have family in Florida that appear to be in the path.

I did get September's clue done for the Magnolia Mystery http://meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/2017/08/magnolia-mystery-quilt-cutting.html.

That chartreuse just wakes you up doesn't it?  :)

And here is the first of two Octavian the Octopus blocks I am planning to make from the Awesome Ocean Elizabeth Hartman pattern that Colette from What About Rheema so kindly sent me in a surprise package last week.  I held off for a couple days but the lure of a new project called me into the sewing room and demanded I make this first block this afternoon.  I am wondering if the fussy cut beady eyes may be just a bit too much??  Thank you Colette, you shouldn't have but as you can see it is entertaining me already :)

I was able to hold an octopus "hand" tentacle? one time at a visit to the Toledo Zoo when my son was small...the rascal tried very hard to remove my wristwatch.  It was very impressive to feel how strong it was!  Made me wonder if it could pull me into the tank with it...but surely the keeper wouldn't have encouraged the contact if it could have...right?

I was going to work on my HST tonight! Love that octopus. I'm tempted by the same pattern but resisting, for now anyway!

I love your octopus. Octopi are very strong, but I am going to assume the one you were holding tentacles with at the zoo was socialized used to being handled from when it was very young.

That octopus is cute...can they be cute? I say "yes"! The chartreuse blocks pop right out there and call my name.

Your Octopus is darling! That is such a sweet and wonderful quilt pattern by Elizabeth Hartman. Looking forward to following your progress on this quilt.

Your HSTs are perfect. Love the color! I just bought the Awesome Ocean kit last month. I am trying to finish up some UFOs before I start it. It may be my winter project. I also want to do the Fancy Forest pattern. I think I have collected all the FQs I need for that quilt too.

that octopus is so cute. love it. and um nope......they um wouldnt have encouraged you to handle that octopus if you were well behaved and the keeper liked you right? LOL just kidding the tentacles must have felt weird. I will admire them from afar thank you very much. LOL chicken that I am

I, too, have taken an unintended blogging break. It's that time of year! Must try to squeeze in every minute of the season before the weather turns. Love your color choices for your Magnolia Mystery Quilt. And that Octopus! Oh, my, how cute!

I hope your family is safe. Although I do not think of octopus as a cute creature, Octavian the Octopus is definitely quite an adorable one.
