This is the next block released from the qal...I am quilting along with both qals on
this to keep my momentum going and to help with a quicker finish :)
The qals are from two
great bloggers:
Angie from GnomeAngel, who is doing one by skill level starting with easiest
and the one I started with, Kerry's from verykerryberry which is going numerical/alphabetical
This is the next one from the easiest to hardest qal...Coral, block number 24
I deviated from the book's pattern by using flying geese in lieu of the hst's...I just didn't see why this 6 inch block needed any more seams than necessary! I would share the dimensions but as this is a qal using a book I believe it would be frowned upon, sorry. It isn't hard quilty math though to get there...
I used a fun farmer's wife print on this one complete with chickens...yep, me in fabric, lol!
Here is the back so you can see what I did do different, if you care to join me on the deviation train :)
I can definitely relate to the letter with this block, it speaks to enjoying and making memories while your kids are young. My "baby" is 15 so yes, I can relate!

I love your block the green print is great! Don't see why I should HSTs either flying geese are so much better a choice:-)
So sweet! Love your chicken fabric, Kris. Hey... It's your quilt and if you want to use flying geese... Then do it! I would too!
I love the way you've been taking pics of these blocks by laying them on the book. It is seriously making me want to get that book! More beautiful blocks by you!
Beautiful block and such pretty fabrics!
I like this much better with geese instead of HST's.
Great looking block!
I really like your Coral block! I am following Gnome Angel but am behind already! Too busy making memories with the grandbabies. Can't believe E is 15 already. He was almost 4 when I met you.
I did that with some of the Farmer's Wife blocks too. I see nothing wrong with making it easier than a bazillion seams in those teeny tiny blocks. Love the fabric.
Kris...so love your fabric choices and your backs look just as good as the fronts. You wouldn't want to see the back of one of mine...giggle.
Very clever, Kris!! The background fabric and your comment made me laugh out loud. That back of your block is so clean! I am jealous :)
