Stamp On it Blog Hop

Thanks so much to Mdm Samm and Thearica for hosting this fun, creative and inspiring hop...no nets here...we have to make it up as we go...lol!

This is my "stamp"  ... meet my hands, quilting on my Bernina...I used a paper piecing pattern from Ruth B. McDowell's book called When Quilters Gather.  I love this book and would like to make a quilt from the patterns someday.

She advised increasing the size of the pattern significantly from what was in the book but silly me...I decided I would use the pattern as is...a bit challenging actually.

The paper pieced section is 5 inches by 10 inches.  I turned the edges down on this piece and appliqued it onto a piece of wool felt.  This is a nice sturdy piece of felt you can find at Michelle's shop if you want to do something similar.  I finished up with pinking shears to make the "stampy edges".

And then, because this is a "stamping hop" I used a rubber stamp to add my Stamp text.  I chose QUILTING FOREVER USA since almost all the stamps I buy these days are FOREVER which, for any international readers who may be unaware, just indicates that I don't have to add additional postage when the rates go up, which seems often, these days.

Thanks for joining me and please be sure to check out all the other Stampers "on" today!

Fabulous, there are no other words that come to mind! I've seen that book, and was on overload looking at all the little pieces, reducing it boggles my mind, but you my dear have done a marvelous job!

Great work! I love the block--so nice for a "forever" block since quilting will be around that long.

Linda C said...

Wow, you are brave girl to NOT increase the size as that is detailed foundation piecing! WTG, Kris. May Quilting remain Forever even though our postage rates will not.

Stamping "Forever" on your beautiful paper piecing block was a great idea...love the whole thing! Lots of little pieces, but you did an amazing job on it. :O)

I love the "forever" idea and your great piecing. After talking to a new neighbor from Australia, we are fortunate to have "forever stamps" as she explained that the postage in the US is very expensive. We take a lot of things for granted until we have something else to compare with it and although I've been seeing this on the Internet, it is now "sinking in" that many things cost much more here than they do in other countries. Thanks for sharing.

If you can paper piece I am automatically impressed :) It looks really great!! I have yet to learn to paper piece. Just can't make myself do it. It seems complicated but I know it is really not. I love the whole concept of quilting forever. I hope to be doing the same .... quilting forever :). It is a creative process that always ends with love as you share it with someone or use it in your home. Thanks for sharing in the hop along. Congrats for being on top for the day:) Janita
