This block went together fairly straight-forward but I think I should have paid more attention to having bigger patches on the ends...there is a fairly significant "trim-up" at the end which nipped that orange print on the lower left corner fairly small!! Note to self: read through instructions closer before beginning...everyone has a different approach and it is important to know and plan for such things as major trim-ups...
Tomorrow is my day for the
So be sure to stop back.
I also wanted to share a few pics from a project I did for this hop...
I said at the time that I was trying to reproduce the look of our beanfield with blackbirds in it which happens a lot....now that was back in October and would you believe it wasn't until February that my hubby was able to snap these pics, lol!!
They are a sight to see all bobbing their heads about and talking to each other, reminds one of this movie...but my son uses the quilt as a bed quilt and sees nothing odd about that at all, lol!

very cool quilt!
That bird quilt is AWESOME!!!
Wow! Did you design the blackbirds yourself?? Love them. I love the blackbirds that visit us as well. They are so big we call them black chickens. Some could be small turkeys.
I really like the bird quilt. Both my kids would probably fight over the chance to use it. I wish I would have thought about the need to place the fabrics differently to not have the small bits too. Hope you are having a good evening.
Your scrappy x block looks great! I'm sure the recipient will be very happy with it. Has your son seen the movie The Birds? I wouldn't be able to sleep with the quilt after that. :) It's a perfect quilt for fall and Halloween! I can't believe how many birds you get in that field. You have some great inspiration!
