My mother was diagnosed and treated for early stage breast cancer last year so I am well aware of the heartache, struggle, courage and bravery involved in this fight. Thankfully, my mom did well with her surgery and treatment and is continuing to do well now. I pray for that outcome for everyone faced with this disease.
My project utilizing Mdm Samm's sweet bra applique pattern is a tote bag / book bag. The pattern can be found here:

Sorry for the awful sewing room photos, the weather has not cooperated and allowed me better outdoor options.
Now, for a chuckle...
my 14 year old son walked into the sewing room and found this "bra bag" and asked me "What are you going to do with this? Are you going to *gasp* carry it in public?"
(translation: anywhere where I am or my friends might see)
I told him straight-faced that I thought it would make a great bag for his track shoes...ha! He does not think his mother funny...hmmm...

ReplyDeleteGorgeous bag! Those boxpleats look very professional! Loved the story about your son. It made me think. You could use that bag as a punishment..... Threatening him with the option of taking his track shoes in that bag might give you a lot of leverage! Just giving you an idea!

ReplyDeleteThose little box pleats are the cutest thing! Maybe you could add a few to his track shoes so they'd be matchy-matchy! ... lol ... Very often I ask my adult son, who is an engineer and has a great eye for line and color, about his opinion on a WIP. Not this time. He walked through and would gaze over while I was auditioning several fabric, trims and ideas and I looked up one time and said, "No worries ... I am not going to ask you which pink trim looks best where on this one." He just nodded and looked relieved and went on his way.

There is nothing to do there for me, and I didn't even consider the content of my project like I should have....kind of got the same reaction. HILARIOUS! Gotta love boys!

I remember when I was in high school, TV ran the Playtex bra commercials on Friday and Saturday nights just when you were watching TV after the early movie with a date.
